Attorney Profile


Gail Haefner Straith began her legal career in 1985 with Paul Frank + Collins P.C., one of Vermont’s largest and most prominent law firms.  Her marriage to another native Michigander prompted Gail’s return to the Metro Detroit area. 

Gail opened Straith Law in November 2009.  Gail enjoys having an office in her hometown of Birmingham, Michigan.  



 

 

 

 

Experience:

Gail has extensive experience advising clients in connection with a broad range of business contracts, including shareholder agreements, purchase and sale agreements, confidentiality and nondisclosure agreements, software licenses, consulting agreements, and private placement memoranda. Gail believes in working with a client’s team of professional advisors to achieve the best possible outcomes.  Gail is skilled at turning handshakes into contracts.

Clients depend on Gail to guide them efficiently and confidently through the process of acquiring or selling a business. 
Her extensive experience with negotiating and drafting purchase agreements, along with her deep appreciation of the importance of the transaction to the business owner, makes her an important ally in the arena of mergers and acquisitions. 

Throughout her career, Gail has represented both banks and borrowers in complex loan transactions.  Gail recognizes the importance of the relationship between lender and borrower and is committed to preserving that relationship, never losing sight of the ultimate goal: the successful deal.  

Gail practices intellectual property law with respect to trademark and copyright matters. She prosecutes U.S. trademark registrations and advises clients on selection of marks and branding issues.  She prepares cease and desist letters and files oppositions when the need arises. Gail has extensive experience with negotiating and drafting multi-million dollar software licenses and software maintenance agreements.
